ER Fluid Clutch Application:
| The video on the left
shows an experimental set up for a clutch application.
●The
pulley on the left (connected to cord) is coupled to the spinning
motor via an ER clutch.
●Initially,
no voltage is applied, and the mass is stationary.
Applying a voltage causes the clutch to engage, and lift
the mass.
●It
is then possible to finely control the “slip” of the clutch to
accurately hold the mass against its own weight.
